The event showcasing leading international brands through their Indian dealers including leading yacht brands from New Zealand, Australia, France and UAE as well as indigenous boat manufacturers from India. In addition to marinas, engines, navigational and other systems and equipment, mainstream craft such as trailer boats, sports boats and luxury sailing and motor boats and water skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, scuba diving and fishing equipment among others were on display.
The 2nd Edition of 'Cochin International Boat Show 2019' was held from December 6-8th, 2019 at Samudrika Convention Centre, Willingdon Island, Kochi. CIBS 2019 is currently the only event happening in India for the leisure, rescue, maritime and boating sectors and had attracted buyers from this sector and other related industries. The event was endorsed and supported by Ministry of MSME, Govt of India; Southern Naval Command, Kochi along with the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, Kerala Chapter.
With many types of boats on display, and all the gear to go along with them, the Cochin International Boat Show 2019 is currently the only Boating Event taking place in India. Many indigenous boat manufacturers from Kerala had also participated including Samudra Shipyard, Praga Marine, Summit Marine, Valeth Boatyard etc. The CIBS event means that, especially for local boat builders, there is an opportunity for launch of their latest models while many other brands will use this event for their national debuts.
Apart from the boat suppliers, the event also included a full range of other stakeholders in the recreational & leisure boating market. These included marinas, engines, navigational and other systems and equipment, and other supply and service providers. The CIBS event is not just about boats and yachts, but is strongly promoted as an event which covers all water sports and activities that can happen in the State. In addition to mainstream craft such as trailer boats, sports boats and luxury sailing and motor yachts, CIBS also includes waterskiing and wakeboarding, kayaking, scuba diving, fishing and more.
The event was inaugurated on December 6th by Vice Admiral A. K. Chawla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command along with Capt. Joseph Alapatt, Dy. Conservator, Cochin Port Trust and other stake holders of the Industry from public and private sector.
It was great success with a total of 35 organizations (both local & foreign) exhibiting in over 80 stalls during this year’s exhibition with a total of 1,250 trade visitors. The post event evaluation has revealed a strong positive desire by the exhibitors and the participants to be engaged in future exhibitions as well. It was also mentioned about the increase in small and medium scale enterprises and the latest innovative products they have to offer.
This year’s event included successful participation from the MSME, Government of India with 12 companies participating under the banner of MSME Pavilion. The event showcased the latest technology developments in the boating and marine sectors. It also brought together technology and suppliers, entrepreneurs and support services on a single platform.

Special Attractions at the Event
This year, con-current to the main exhibition, Cochin Motor Boat Rally, a motor boat rally in cooperation with the Southern Naval Command, Kochi, was also held on December 6 th at Willingdon Island backwaters. The route was the ‘The ‘Adventure Trail’ a 21nm long route which took the participants through the enchanting backwaters of Kochi. The route commenced from the scenic Cruiser Wharf Terminal and crossed several key landmarks of Kochi City including the Naval Jetties, Cochin Shipyard, Thevara Ferry Point, Cochin Yacht Club, Le’ Meridien Hotel and the Vembanad Lake. The participants could get a flavour of the Kochi backwaters including crossing scenic Chinese fishing nets, beautiful local architecture and local fishermen at work. At the same time, the participants had to navigate clear of the fishing stakes and correctly identify the carefully chosen Calling Points, which then qualified them for the Course Completion Certificate.
