4th Edition of India Boat & Marine Show(IBMS) was held from March 25-27, 2022
India Boat & Marine Show(IBMS), which has emerged as the country’s premier boat and marine industry-related expo was held from March 25th to 27th, 2022 at Bolgatty Palace Event Centre, Cochin.
The event featured a full range of stakeholders in the recreational and leisure boating market including speed boats, engines, navigational and other systems equipments and other supply/service providers. 43 exhibitors had displayed their products and services at the expo, with more than 3650 business visitors from across the region had visited the show.
The expo will be formally inaugurated by Shri. N. Ravi, DIG, Indian Coast Guard on March 25th and the Keynote Address was delivered by Capt. Joseph Alapat, Dy. Conservator, Cochin Port Trust. In addition to these, there was special address by Deepak L. Aswani, FICCI Kerala State Council and Mathew George, Director, IWAI.
The event was supported and endorsed by K-BIP, KMB, Cochin Shipyard, Cochin Port Trust, IWAI, Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and IMU.
Vendor Development Program(VDP) was held on March 25th from 2pm to 4pm.
This networking B2B Meet was held with focus on the Vendor Development Program for the various PSU's including Defence Establishments, Shipyards, Ports and other Agencies involved in these sectors from across the country. Sessions were from Cochin Port Trust, Indian Coast Guard and IWAI. Participating PSUs includes Indian Coast Guard, Naval Ship Repair Yard, Cochin Shipyard, Cochin Port Trust & Inland Waterways Authority of India.
Technical Sessions on March 26th, 2022
The 2nd Day Technical Sessions was organized by DOSTAS (Department of Ship Technology Alumni Society) was held on Saturday, March 26thth titled DIMSLite 2022(DOSTAS International Maritime Seminar-Lite) on the infrastructural and equipment requirements such as marine crafts like pleasure crafts and small crafts, marinas, seaplanes and trained manpower which play an important role in addressing the tourism and water transportation sectors.
There were 8 Technical Sessions with speakers presenting their views on various topics related to the small crafts and tourism sector. After each panel session a Q&A session was also held which was very interactive and useful to the audience.
Kerala are increasingly getting attracted to enjoy recreational time on water and with KMRL’s Water Metro to be commissioned by May 2022 will now be focussing on developing the district’s inland boating and marine facilities into a world class facility. The hybrid catamaran Water Metro-01 will be the first in a series of 23 such vessels that was built by Cochin Shipyard for KMRL and is a part of setting up of a world class Integrated Water Transport System for Kochi city. The vessels are expected to be operating on 15 identified routes connecting 41 jetties across 10 island communities across 76 km route network and 1 boatyard in Kochi.
